ABOUT ME
Mathematics has been my passion ever since I was in the 3rd grade. Growing up in Romania, the math taught in school was very theoretical. During middle school and high school I trained hard for regional, national and international math competitions.

When I arrived in the US for college, I wanted to be able to apply math to real world problems. It is incredibly rewarding when one creates a model based on assumptions of how they think that the world behaves and to see that it actually works. This encouraged me to do a Bachelor's in Actuarial Mathematics and a Master's in Financial Mathematics both in 4 years. However, I was still willing to learn how to apply math to a wider variety of real world problems. This encouraged me to obtain a Ph.D. in Statistics and Applied Probability.
